Today I played it smart and went out early in the morning while my energy levels and the affect of caffeine were still high. With an extra under-layer I was comfy in the 32F weather. The result was a 4.5 mile run!
I can feel the energy levels staying up higher for longer periods and I can definitely feel the strength slowly coming back!
My first visit back to the Dr. since I came out of the 3 day Chemo treatment at the Hospital, was today.
A regular blood test and my first shot of Neulasta.
My blood test came out with "perfect levels" according to their Lab.
"Everything looks normal, and your White and Red cells are still at very good levels". He said.
"What do you attribute that to?" I inquired.
"Your work-out habits and your good Nutrition have a lot to do with it. It seems that you have not lost your appetite and that is very helpful".
I was very aware of the fact that Chemo patients lose their "taste" for food after Chemo and I had stocked up on BBQ sauces and various condiments that I don't usually eat so that I can stimulate my appetite during this period. Much to my surprise I never lost my appetite!
During my conversation with the Dr. I found out that is all the meat products that taste different to our palate and difficult to digest and since I don't eat meat (occasionally I will eat some types of seafood) I had no change in appetite!
Today I also found out that most of the Chemo comes out in the first few days but the symptoms/side affects remain and that Cycle 2 does not have a cumulative affect on the body as I originally had thought, but the side affects do!
My next visit with him is in 10 days and in the mean time "Continue doing what you have been" he said.
Now I'm curious to find out, while everything is going so well, are we killing any of the "bad guys"?
We'll see......
